Moshi Voice Control Travel Alarm Clock – Review

I reviewed the Moshi Voice Controlled Alarm Clock a few weeks back and was rather impressed. It really works and makes setting the time or the alarm as easy as speaking. Love it! Well, turns out the company also has a travel alarm clock that uses the same voice technology.

Stolen iPhones Show Up In Russia?

A couple of days ago we reported about 4,000 iPhones that were stolen from a Belgium company. The police lost track of the thieves and the devices were never found. Touch My Apps reports that the units are currently being activated in Russia.

They are sold to local distributers by packs of 100 units.

However, customers might be in for a big surprise.

Amazon Unloads AT&T Phones for a Penny

The crazy retail deals are still going strong today here in the U.S. During my daily check of Amazon for the MP3 special of the day, I noticed the e-tailer is offering any AT&T phone for a penny today. There’s also no activation fee, which saves $36 — personally, I think the fee should go away from the entire industry, but that’s another matter. As expected, you’ll need a new two-year service account for the deal, which expires at the end of the day. That means existing AT&T customersSource: jkOnTheRun RSS Feed

Return to Alderaan in Star Wars: The Old Republic

Bioware has revealed the planet of Alderaan will be one of the environments for players to explore in the upcoming MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Macs Reduced by $100 to $200 at Best Buy

It’s fairly difficult to find a sale on Apple notebooks on desktops. Apple rarely discounts their computing line and online resellers usually require a rebate if and when they offer a worthwhile discount. But last year, I took advantage of a preemptive Black Friday sale at Best Buy — that’s when I picked up my unibody 13″ MacBook with a $150 discount over Apple’s pricing. There was no rebate and I walked out of the store with MacBook in hand.

Sure enough the same deal are in Source: jkOnTheRun RSS Feed

Black Friday deals roundup: Walmart, Target and NewEgg

We suspect this will be the final round of Black Friday ad leaks -- you know, considering that Black Friday is but a few days away -- but it seems as if the gadget world has saved the best (or at least the biggest) for last. As usual, we're not spotting any major steals that'd be worth lining up a dozen hours in advance for, but the $78 Blu-ray player and $10 BD films from Wally World may be worth paying your neighbor to snag for you. Check 'em all out below... if you dare.

Flurry launches AppCircle to help apps get discovered

With 100,000 apps in Apple’s AppStore, it has become ridiculously hard to get an app discovered. At any given time, perhaps 100 apps are easy to find on the featured apps or top apps lists. That’s why analytics startup Flurry is launching a new platform, AppCircle, whose aim is to get iPhone and iPod Touch apps noticed.

The platform is a natural extension of the analytics business that has become very popular. With AppCircle, Flurry can offer something valuable to developers. And,Source: VentureBeat RSS Feed

Army mapping drone fires mile-long lasers

The Army has a new laser-based 3D mapping robot, one that can create imagery of a surrounding area using, yes, lasers. It uses a mirror-based LIDAR system that "bounces a laser off a rapidly rotating mirror and gleans environmental information from how long it takes for each pulse to bounce back." Oh, OK!

What's really good about this for the Army is that it does what normally requires a $100,000 setup for about 1/5th of the cost. And what saves the Army money saves taxpayers money, atSource: DVICE RSS Feed

Debunking the Big Brain Myth

Just because we’ve got bigger brains doesn’t mean we’ve got a leg up on the rest of the animal kingdom, concludes new research from Queen Mary, University of London, and Cambridge University. Researchers claim that with the aid of computer generated models, they have determined even remarkably small sized brains are capable of consciousness—with as little as a few hundred nerve cells doing the job.
